History
History of Swansea University
- Swansea university’s foundation was laid by the king George V in July 1920. Then there were only 89 students including 8 female students who enrolled in the same year. But the students increased to 485 by September 1939.
- In 1947 there were only two buildings on the campus such as Singleton Abbey and the Library.
- In 1960 a large scale program was developed like halls of residence, Maths and Science tower etc.
- In 1973 South Wales Miners’ library was established.
- In 1992 regional school of nursing were transferred to Swansea University
- In 2012 the university began an ambitious campus expansion development project.
- The Bay campus was established in 2015.
- In 2018 Swansea University made a joint venture with Naveta’s and opened a university college for pathway programs.
