Sign Up for the OIETC Portal
First, you need to sign up for the test. To do this, create a new account on the OIETC’s website. If you have already applied to some universities, you might have a few offers that depend on your test results.
Pay for the OIETC
The next step is to buy the test. On your OIETC portal, click on the “Get a Licence” option at the top of the home screen. This will take you to a payment confirmation page. Some of your details will already be filled in from when you signed up. Make sure this information is correct, then proceed to make the payment.
Sit the OIETC’s Reading and Listening Sections
After you pay, you can start the OIETC test immediately from this portal. The Reading and Listening sections are multiple-choice and take about 40 minutes and 20 minutes, respectively. You must complete these two sections before scheduling the Speaking test or doing the Writing task.
Complete Your Writing Assessment
After completing the Reading and Listening sections, you can access the Writing and Speaking parts. Submit your Writing task through the portal, which takes about an hour. Finish it 24 hours before your Speaking session. You can book the Speaking session once you finish the first two sections.
Book Your Speaking Exam
This is the only test part you need to schedule. After the Reading and Listening sections, click “Schedule an Interview” on the Speaking tile in your OIETC portal. Book it at least 24 hours in advance, and check the time zone. Finish the Writing section 24 hours before the Speaking session, or it will be cancelled.
Receive Your Results from the OIETC
Another great thing about this test is how fast you get the results. You will get a report and certificate within 48 hours after taking the test! The OI Digital Institute will email you the results, and you can also see them in your ELLT portal.
Why OIETC is Better Than MOI?
The medium of instruction (MOI) is not a test. MOI is a certificate that a student can collect from his university if his previous education was in English. MOI is best for students who don’t want to sit for any English tests in UK. However, only a few British universities accept MOI. On the other hand, OIETC is an alternative test to the IELTS exam. OIETC is accepted by many top universities in UK. We don’t discourage you if you want to study in UK with MOI, but we always recommend our students to sit for a test as it increases their chances of admission in the UK.
